Family Silhouettes

Here are some of the silhouettes I have created in the past week. The first is a family of four in a Quadruple superimposed layout. The cat piece was very fun to do and is two cats in a ying yang symbol.

Wedding Favor Table

Amy Atlas created this dessert table for Claudia Hanlin's Wedding Library in New York City.  Inspired by the Wedding Library's lovely, hand-screened Alan Campbell paper, the table included delicate treats such as cupcakes decorated with feathers and pearls, fleur-de-lis cookies and silhouette chocolates.

~Karl was the first vendor I booked for our wedding.  After seeing the spread in the Martha Stewart Wedding Magazine, I knew I had to have him.  Our entire wedding theme was built around the silhouettes.  We used silhouettes of ourselves for the invitations, the seating chart, the programs, and of course our favors were custom silhouettes of each guest.  The duplicate silhouette of each of our guests was placed in a guest book and each person signed or wrote a message.  It is amazing how you don't even have to look at name or message to know who it is!  The silhouette them and favors made our wedding absolutely unforgettable for us and all our guests!  Karl, we can't thank you enough...you are insanely talented and we were so privileged to have had you at our wedding!

Silhouette Artist for your Wedding

We get more and more requests from Brides who want to have a Silhouette Artist at their wedding. Martha Stewart Wedding thought it was a great idea as well. The magazine hired Karl to come do Silhouettes at a wedding that was then featured in the magazine. Here are some pictures from that.

Silhouette Family in Martha Stewart Living

Winemaker Marco Pasanella, Rebecca Robertson and their son Luca are the cutest family ever -- and check out their awesome artsy idea!

They created a silhouette family portrait, which shows how Rebecca plus Marco adds up to their little son Luca.

So cute, don't you think? Thanks for sending us this great photo, Marco! ("It wasn't easy to keep a three-year-old still," he laughs.)

If you want to copy their genius artwork, it's pretty simple: Just take a photo of yourself in profile and cut it out carefully. Then trace around it onto a piece of black construction paper. Voila! You have a silhouette portrait in a few easy steps.

Silhouettes on Wedding Invitations from Paperwhite Press

With the state fair just around the corner, I thought I would post about Kyra and Robert's awesome silhouette invitation for their upcoming wedding. At last year's NC state fair, renowned silhouette artist, Karl Johnson - cutarts.com was cutting silhouettes. We were able to scan and digitally trace their silhouette cut outs and put them on their wedding invitation and seating cards. The results were awesome, classic black and white paired with a tiffany blue envelope. Karl is quite amazing and has been featured in Martha Stewart Weddings among others. We cannot wait to do another silhouette invitation again!
