Silhouette portraits, once a thing of the past, have become new and sought after once again. Open any design magazine or catalog and you will see silhouettes everywhere. People are having silhouettes done of their dogs, cats, children, grandchildren and of themselves. They are also popular for brides and grooms who are using them to decorate their wedding invitations and table toppers.

Pet silhouettes are also available. Here is a silhouette cutting I did of my new puppy Bart. I used a cream colored paper then mounted the silhouette to a blue background.

Kips Bay Design House

Karl created these giant silhouettes for the Kip's Bay Designer Show House in NYC in 2005. It might not be clear in the photograph, but these silhouettes are over 3 feet tall.

This is a layout I did for an internet baked goods company. The image of Granny and her cooking tools are all cut freehand. I created the text on my computer.

I did this artwork for a book cover for the soon to be published "Holy Silence". I cut the entire illustration out of a single piece of black paper.
